Wallacedene is not a highly educated area due to various reasons. Amongst those are joblessness, poverty and a high prevalence of substance and alcohol abuse.
In the area of Wallacedene, we have got three full time primary schools and one platooning primary school. The primary schools are Enkululekweni, Imvumelwano, Wallacedene I and Wallacedene II (platooning school). There is only one secondary school in this community.
The oldest primary school is Enkululekweni, which was established in 1993 under Mr B Mhlom. During 1998, new principal Mrs NA Tomose-Chabangu took over the helm. Since she has taken control over the school, a lot of improvements were achieved in respect of the schools physical image, learning environment and relationships with the community. Her fundraising initiatives allowed the school’s governing body to built a new hall and to partner with Cell-C to use the property to host their transmitter. These funds raised are used to support the school as the school is a no fee school.
Our Hector Peterson High School, is also a top performing high school with programmes that are aimed at personal and academic development.
